SUNDAY REVIEW / AND THE WALL CAME TUMBLING DOWN

Segment of the Berlin Wall and ominous guard tower on display at the Newseum,
a media museum in Washington DC.

HISTORIC RUBBLE--The last time I touched the Berlin Wall (or in my case a piece of it) was on a trip to Washington DC.  Inside the fairly new media museum—Newseum—on Pennsylvania Ave. is a section devoted to the “Wall.” It serves as a stark reminder that 25 years ago today the Berlin Wall was breached in the name of freedom.  The Wall display is near other historic rubble: pieces of the Twin Towers that fell in New York City on 9-11.

9-11 segment of NYC's Twin Towers
on display at the Newseum.  In background
on display are newspaper front pages
from around the world heralding the
disaster and murders.

Sunny day view from the top of the Newseum.
